Principal responsibilities are to work with elected and appointed officials and the general public to create and implement the county's comprehensive plan. LCPC reviews all proposals and amendments related to land use (zoning ordinance, zoning map, subdivisions, land developments, comprehensive plans) as required by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code and also sewage facilities plans as required by Act 537.

Provides planning services to the counties and 62 municipalities in the Lehigh Valley.

Offers county operations, including administration/human resources, economic development, corrections, court services, fiscal affairs, human services, public works, and the offices of the Coroner, Public Defender, Sheriff, and Solicitor. Information on county services.

Facilitates and manages sustainable development in Cranberry Township to meets the needs of individual property owners and the Township as a whole within the parameters of the comprehensive plan.

Serves as the governing legislative body for Carbon County.
