Working with the local community, the Schuylkill United Way raises and distributes funds to 15 partner human service agencies in Schuylkill County.

United Way of Berks County helps people in need, addresses the county’s critical issues and makes the community a better place for everyone. Their work is centered on raising and distributing funds to support a vital network of health and human services, as well as tackling the community’s key issues and working towards solutions in the areas of Education, Health, Financial Stability and Safety Net Services.

Offers trained community members who, acting as trauma responders, support and lead responses to stress, trauma, loss, and violence within their own communities. Responders work alongside community leaders to provide technical assistance, facilitate group interventions, and create healing spaces. Provides Psychological First Aid (PFA) and immediate support following an incident of violence or trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Management (PTSM) interventions including orientation sessions, stabilization groups, coping groups, and self-care discussions. Offers presentations, workshops, and referrals for clinical services and wellness resources.

Convenes diverse partners, raises funds, and supports programs and organizations that address critical community needs in the areas of Health, Education, Income, and Basic Needs.

Offers professional development, networking opportunities, posted job listings, and resources for individuals working in nonprofit arena. Provides a comprehensive directory of nonprofit organizations, preferred consultants, and grantmakers in South Central PA.

Offers a variety of training and education programs to inspire people to serve the community in leadership positions. Programs offered include Board Development, Executive Connections, Future Leaders of York, Leadership for Diverse Schools, Leadership Training Program, and Mentorship York.

Works with partners in the community, including community members, businesses and organizations, to achieve the goals that will move Schuylkill County forward. Summits are held to address issues in the areas of education, quality of life, economic development, government, infrastructure and leadership.

A comprehensive information and referral program. The primary service is assessment of caller needs, followed by sharing of information about and referrals to appropriate resources that will address client needs, questions and concerns. Maintains an extensive database of health and human services, including non-profit agencies and government programs. Additional services include: Production of the Where to Call Guide, a quick reference booklet of Lancaster County resources. For 100 years United Way of Lancaster County has helped make change happen across Lancaster County by providing opportunities for community members to give, advocate, and volunteer. In addition to offering a 2-1-1 information and referral service, a volunteer center, and free tax preparation services for low income workers, United Way fosters collaborations between nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, schools, faith-based groups, businesses, and government. United Way and its supporters create lasting change in Lancaster County, achieving results that no single organization or sector could accomplish alone.
