Avenues - Adult Socialization Services


A way for individuals to spend time with their friends in a social setting. Offers a great opportunity to gain social skills within the community and provides each individual with the feeling of self worth and independence. Currently there are thirteen active groups providing activities in different areas of Schuylkill County. Each group participates in one activity each month. Activities include: Bowling Movies Local fairs Dining out Mini golf Variety of interesting adventures In addition to each group's monthly activity, there is an opportunity once a month for a large group activity. These activities are open to all groups and usually are activities such as dances, plays, amusement parks, tours, etc.

Provides academic and emotional support to schoolchildren with Autism Spectrum Disorder in their home school districts. Focuses on individual intensive teaching, maintenance/generalization/flexibility, expressive/receptive skill building, natural environment teaching, independent skill building, daily living skill development, play skills training, social emotion skill building, and vocational skill building. Develops and implements individual education plans. Provides transition services for students age 14+ as they approach graduation.

Provides information, social work services, and general support that empower individuals with disabilities to live full lives in the community. A state and county funded agency mandated by law to provide services for persons with intellectual disabilities. Works closely with many other agencies, bureaus and providers of these services. Nexus School - School for Children with Autism

Provides academic instruction to students within the autism spectrum in kindergarten through age 21.
