Provides guidance and assistance to individuals and families living in these area shelters: Interfaith Family Shelter, Shalom House, and the YWCA:

• Obtaining an income and/or permanent or temporary housing
• Child care, connection to the mental health and/or drug and alcohol recovery support systems, family unification, etc.

Provides access to comprehensive health services through clinics at homeless congregate sites for adults and children experiencing homelessness throughout the Pittsburgh area. A prescription voucher program is also available to individuals experiencing homelessness who have no medical assistance for covering prescription costs. Additional specialty services, outreach services, and substance abuse services are available to individuals experiencing homelessness each month.

Provides case care management to assist homeless individuals in making a successful transition to independent living.

Operates a ten-unit scattered site transitional housing program for homeless women with or without children. Clients coming from the Center's Emergency Shelter or the Women's Resource Center Shelter receive rental assistance and supportive services while residing in scattered site apartments. Services include: case management, assistance in acquiring safe housing, rental and utilities assistance for up to 12 months, life Skills training and goal setting, furniture and household items, emergency food and clothing, art therapy, counseling and legal services, assistance with job training and education, linkages to community agencies, and recreational opportunities.

Provides health care services to people with health problems who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Some examples of health problems treated are: medicine refills, cold symptoms, sore muscles and joints, a new or long-term wound, flu shots, blood pressure checks, diabetes education, trouble with teir feet

Provides a day center for individuals experiencing homelessness. Provides a place to use the restroom, charge phones, play games, read or rest. Serves a maximum of 20 guests. Also provides one-on-one case management.

Provides a 30 day emergency shelter for women, men and children, providing a safe place to stay while working to secure permanent housing, case management, life skills education, employment readiness, and financial literacy.

Works with clients to place them into one of the emergency shelters in the area: Shalom House and The YWCA of Greater Harrisburg for women and children; The East Shore YMCA will, when space is available, accept referrals for single men who are able to continue paying the weekly fees after an initial payment provided by HELP.

Offers assistance to homeless people who are interested in connecting back into mainstream society. The program offers services on a variety of job-related issues. The program is designed to help homeless people find and use needed services that encourage self-sufficiency. Services include case management, job readiness skills, vocational counseling, and employment.

Provides case management, transitional housing and supportive services to homeless women and their children. Supportive services include case management, counseling, and schooling support for each child.

Provides private attorneys who will provide pro bono legal services once per month at the Operation Safety Net (OSN) office.

Assists guests in navigating complex systems and services to achieve their goals, including obtaining benefits, identification, medical care, behavioral health care, and housing.

Assists participants to develop goals, through counseling, financial planning assistance, personal mentoring, and case management coordination services.

Engages and coordinates services and resources to meet the needs of persons with mental illness who are experiencing homelessness. Assists with community integration and works with mental health specialists, community supports, and housing resources to facilitate a transition from homelessness to community living.
