Aging Advocacy - MHA provides advocacy services at the South Mountain Restoration Center to ensure the rights of individuals to receive the most appropriate services in the most appropriate setting are assured. Offers an 8-session educational program for adults with mental illness who are looking to better understand their condition and journey toward recovery, and includes presentations, discussion, and interactive exercises.

Provides support in times of turmoil and social isolation and offers opportunities to improve social skills as well as developing and maintaining healthy relationships. Offers a variety of educational and recreational activities for individuals in mental health recovery.

Manages behavioral health services for individuals eligible for Medical Assistance throughout Pennsylvania. Contracts with providers to offer diverse mental health and substance use disorder services for our members. Care Managers work with members and providers to manage these services.

Youth Administrative Service Coordination services are available to parents/caregivers who may need support and assistance in managing their child’s mental health needs. Services include links to mental health resources, follow-up on the effectiveness of those resources, and long-term support for parents.

Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to the present moment without judgment. It allows individuals to focus on the now, rather than get lost in the future or the past. It teaches us to disengage from our thoughts and take action toward things we care about. Mindfulness-based therapies have been widely recognized as an empirically based treatment for trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, pain management, stress management, and many other issues that we face every day.

Provide supportive services for individuals with persistent mental illness by supplying a link to resources in the community to meet identified needs.

Provides a specialized form of therapy designed to help individuals, particularly children and adolescents, who have experienced traumatic events.

Clubhouse is a recovery oriented program for adults designed to give members the opportunity to learn to manage their illness and develop the skills needed to achieve recovery. The program is based on a work-ordered day and provides vocational training in the areas of clerical/computers, kitchen, education, and maintenance.

Maintains information about community resources relative to mental health and mental illness.

Assists consumers of mental health services who are unable to handle personal finances. A representative payee is designated to receive a consumer's benefit and/or other income payments and then assumes responsibility for managing tasks such as budgeting, bill paying, and distribution of spending money to the consumer.

Office of Mental Health provides treatment and supports for residents with serious and persistent mental illness.

Includes professionals in social work, psychology, counseling, and psychiatry who review client cases and make treatment recommendations. The behavioral case manager serves as a liaison connecting the IBHS team and the client’s medical providers and nursing professionals to facilitate comprehensive care.

Case managers assist individuals obtain supports that help reduce hospitalization so that they can continue to live in the community in the least restrictive setting possible.
