Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania - Backpack Buddies

A kid-friendly supplemental nutrition program administered by the Second Harvest member agencies that have after-school programs. Staff members at each of the locations identify children who are currently enrolled in their programs and are in need of food assistance. Once identified, these children receive a weekly backpack of kid-friendly food to supplement their meals from Friday night until they return to school on Monday morning. Each backpack contains cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruit, soup, macaroni and cheese, canned one-dish meals, and healthy snacks.

Brookline Teen Outreach Center - Drop-In Afterschool Program

Offers drop-in after school programming for youth. Programming includes STEM and Fine Arts activities and instruction, cooking classes, and life skills workshops regularly. Homework help is available daily. After school snack and dinner are provided.

Youth Intervention Center - P.U.L.S.E. Evening Treatment Center (ETC)

Evening Treatment Center that provides evidence based programs: Aggression Replacement Training, Thinking for a Change, Strengthening Families, and Alternatives. Youth participate in the following psycho-educational groups: Employment Skills Development, Life Skills Development, Coping Strategies, Relationship Skills, and Therapeutic Group Discussion. Goals and groups will be determined based on recommendations from the Juvenile Probation Officer or Children and Youth Caseworker, consultation with the parents/guardians, and results of various assessments. Length of the program will be determined by the participant’s treatment needs. Participants are transported to the program after school and then transported home at 8:30pm as long as they live within a 12 mile radius of the facility. Participants will receive an evening meal and snack. They will be given time to complete their homework, as well as recreation time. Afterschool program for children K – 12 at school centers throughout Carbon and Schuylkill Counties. Students are referred primarily for academic purposes.
