Monitors and regulates utility company behavior in the area of consumer complaints. Investigates consumer complaints against PUC-regulated utility companies (including telephone complaints).

Provides information and assistance related to vehicle and road safety, including reporting vehicle or equipment safety issues, checking for recalls, and accessing crash test ratings. Operates a Vehicle Safety Hotline for consumers to report safety issues with vehicles or equipment, file complaints, and receive information about recalls and warnings, and an online tool to search for open recalls.

Administers and enforces Commonwealth laws dealing with labor-management relations.

Provides booklets and phone services for questions about meat and poultry, such as safe food handling, prevention of food-borne illnesses, labeling of meat and poultry products, and recorded messages on a variety of other topics.

Offers effective prevention, education, intervention, and referral to treatment services to individuals and families in Blair county. Works closely with state, county and local agencies to prevent and reduce substance abuse. Works to address the devastating impact of substance use on the individual, their families and the community.

Provides technical assistance to private businesses or local and state organizations on meeting ADA compliance. Includes a walk-through of the business by qualified people with disabilities and a written summary of recommendations.

Offers information on financial issues, receives and processes complaints, and refers callers to correct institutions or organizations.

Provides instruction in family and consumer science related subjects including food safety.

The Safe 80 Taskforce is comprised of community and regional planners, developers, businesspersons, state and local police, emergency services personnel, elected state and local officials, representatives from PennDOT and other transportation agencies, the media and concerned citizens. The 80 in Safe 80 refers to Route 80.

Investigates unfair labor practice charges in both union or non-union workplaces concerning rights of employees under the National Labor Relations Act and processes representation petitions filed by unions, individuals and employers and certifies the results of the elections.

Assists with consumer complaints against PUC-regulated utility companies (including telephone complaints), utility bill payment plan negotiation, and utility disconnect programs. Offers electric, gas, and water service shutoff programs.

Responsible for the administration, education, and enforcement of labor laws.
