A representative payee (payee) manages benefit payments for our beneficiaries who are incapable of managing their Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. Social Security law and regulations require payees to use the payments they receive for the current needs of the beneficiary and in their best interests. While serving as a representative payee, we encourage you to go beyond just managing payments and be actively involved in the beneficiary’s life. The following lists the required duties of a payee. Required Duties: Determine the beneficiary’s needs and use his or her payments to meet those needs; Save any money left after meeting the beneficiary’s current needs in an interest bearing account or savings bonds for the beneficiary's future needs; Report any changes or events which could affect the beneficiary's eligibility for payments; Keep records of all payments received and how you spent and saved them; Provide all records of how payments are spent or saved to SSA upon request

* Coordinated Entry Access Site, connects individuals to programs within the Conference or refers out to community resources. Also helps qualifying low-income individuals and families with rental assistance, goal setting and budgeting. Provides bus passes for interviews or for first week of employment. Toiletries/personal grooming items provided as available. * Various rental assistance programs * Homeless Supportive Services: Provides intensive case management and referrals to other support services for single, adult, chronically homeless individuals. Works closely with individuals to help manage and allocate individuals' funds appropriately to ensure bills are paid on time. Payees also assist with tracking and accounting for monies spent, budgeting, and tenant-landlord communications to ensure each individual receives the support necessary to live as independently as possible.
Establish a weekly/monthly budget; create a personal bank account and reconcile the statements; verify and pay bills; insure the individual has personal spending money. Most persons supported will need some components of this level of support.
The staff and consumer jointly prepare a budget to assist the consumer in managing their monthly expenses with the outcome of achieving financial stability.
Helps individuals regain financial stability by preparing and sending payment for day-to-day expenses ensuring essential bills are paid, offer needed resources and referrals, and reconciling accounts, recording expenses, and making reports to the Social Security Adminstration as needed.
