Children's Hospital of Philadelphia - Children's Hospital of Philadelphia - Reach Out and Read - University City

Provides a national pediatric early literacy program. Trains doctors and nurses to advise parents about the importance of reading aloud and to give new books to children at pediatric well visits with a special focus on children growing up in poverty.

Literacy Council of Lancaster-Lebanon - Literacy Council of Lancaster-Lebanon

Provides free, one-to-one, small group and large group instruction in reading, writing, math or English as a Second Language to adults who wish to improve basic skills. Tutoring sessions may be held at any public location such as a library, church, community center, or recreation hall. Offers GED Prep classes in Elizabethtown and Columbia. Scholarships are available to pay for each of the tests. Contact Jane Myers at 717-297-5523. English for Speakers of Other Languages new student orientation every Thursday at 11:00am and 3:00pm.

Provides a free book program for children, birth to 5 years. Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in a child's name directly to their home at no cost. Programming will continue until the child turns five years old as long as you remain a resident Susquehanna County.
