United Way of Wyoming Valley - Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (GLR)

Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is served through the following programs or partnerships: School Readiness. Dolly Parton's Imagination Libary providing a free book monthly program; Book Drive providing new and gently used children's books that will then be distributed to children. Reading Buddies, a volunteer reading program that brings in mentors. The Nurses Pantry provides at-risk students and families with access to commonly needed material items to address needs of an urgent nature. Summer Learning program.

Donald L. Heiter Community Center - Before and After School Program

Services includes breakfast service, after school snacks, and lunch on non-school days, homework support and project supplies, and supervised playtime, arts and craft space, library and music room, creative play space, game room, and multipurpose room. Also included are walking trips to local parks when the weather permits, field trips during non-school days, carnivals, talent shows, holiday celebrations, and other activities.

Provides learning opportunities through the contributions of schools, community settings, science centers and museums delivering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) knowledge to youth. Literacy Council of Lancaster-Lebanon - Literacy Council of Lancaster-Lebanon

Provides free, one-to-one, small group and large group instruction in reading, writing, math or English as a Second Language to adults who wish to improve basic skills. Tutoring sessions may be held at any public location such as a library, church, community center, or recreation hall. Offers GED Prep classes in Elizabethtown and Columbia.
