The shelter takes in stray or lost animals at no charge and accepts pet animals for a surrender fee. Once the animals are signed over to the shelter the staff takes on the responsibility of finding loving new homes or the owner of those animals that have been lost.

Takes donations of pet food to feed other needy animals in the community via the pet food bank at HSHA's shelter. The HSHA pet food bank is available to participating local food banks and animal welfare organizations, as well as, local residents.

Provides nutritious monthly food supplements to families and individuals who are struggling with food insecurity. Participants are able to visit once per month, (i.e. one time in the month of February, one time in the month of March, etc.). Dry goods, frozen meats, eggs, and fresh produce are provided when available. Other resources are available within the pantry space including voter registration, open computer lab, a pet food pantry, and referrals to other CHS programming.
