Also advocates on behalf of people having problems receiving SNAP benefits through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services County Assistance Offices.

Assists veterans and their family members with information regarding federal, state, and local benefits. Services include assistance in filing for and accessing compensation for service connected disability, pension for veterans unable to work, vocational rehabilitation and counseling, payment for education and job training, home loan guaranty, life insurance, "wheelchair homes," burial benefits, dependency and indemnity compensation, and death pension.

Provides older adults with information and assistance in understanding their health insurance options, property tax and rent rebate, and PACE eligibility.

Provides comprehensive senior services which include information and referral; protective services, ombudsman, assessments, outreach, case/care management; light housework and chores, personal care, and home delivered meals.

Assists Philadelphians in achieving financial stability through enrollment in public benefits, including addressing utility affordability. Conducts screening for local, state, and federal benefits based on household size and income. Assists eligible clients with applying for Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), and Utility Emergency Service Funds (UESF).

Operates a free mobile program that provides basic necessities of food and clothing, as well as access to services and benefits.

Provides an emergency food pantry only. Can connect those in need with one of the area food pantries. Can help prepare an application for SNAP and other services.

Provides benefits counseling, processes all applications for benefits and assistance programs (e.g., monetary, disability, burial, memorials, monuments, etc.), and assists in obtaining military records. Provides daily van service to transport local veterans to the Lebanon VA hospital. Van leaves the Veterans Office (Chestnut Street side) at 8 am and returns at 12:30 pm. Must call to reserve space.

Assists clients in applying for SNAP benefits. Helping Harvest will assist in determining whether or not a client qualifies for SNAP benefits, complete SNAP application in person or over the phone with the client and follow through to help client access benefits.
