Schuylkill Conservation District - Environmental Protection

Works to protect, enhance, restore, and promote the responsible use of the county's natural resources. Services include water quality improvement, involving people to help protect the environment, agricultural land preserve, abandoned mine drainage, and parks and recreation.

Monroe County Conservation District - Environmental Education Center

Offers educational programs for all ages and abilities. Programs are designed to incorporate natural environment into the learning experience and to promote a goal of Conservation through Education. Monroe County Conservation District - Wildlife Sanctuary

Provides an 166 acre preserve and arena for outdoor programs. Preserve includes an old field, mature deciduous forest, evergreen stands, and two ponds. Over 2 1/2 miles of maintained and well marked trails are open for public use year-round, 7 days a week.

Friends' Central School - Trailblazer Day Camp

Offers a day camp for youth ages of 6 to 12. Activities include instructional swimming, archery, art, drama, nature, crafts, sports, and games. Campers are grouped according to grade and gender.

Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education - Wild Wanderers After School Program

Provides youth enrichment programs, nature centers, and child care services to improve children’s quality of life through increased access to nature, extending and enriching out-of-school-time learning activities, unstructured free play in the outdoors, and increased physical activity.

Briar Bush Nature Center - Environmental Education and Recreation Resources

Offers programs for individuals and groups of all ages, including hikes, animal encounters, birthday parties, and summer camps. Features short but rugged trails, a bird observatory cabin, and nature museum.

Monroe County Conservation District - Nature Area

Located in Delaware State Forest north of Marshalls Creek, Meesing is a satellite site of KCEEC and is owned by the PA Bureau of Forestry. KCEEC conducts outdoor school programs at Meesing as well as its annual maple sugaring programs held in February and March. Limited hiking trails are available.

Rock Hollow Woods - Environmental Learning Center

Offers seasonal workshops and summer day camps run by certified teachers. Provides hands-on learning experiences for children who attend morning or afternoon sessions that enrich their understanding of classroom studies. Also offers toddler programs with parents, a Pre-K program, environmental workshops, class field trips, Boy and Girl Scout programs, and environmental birthday parties.

Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania - Summer Adventure Camp

Provides a weekday full-day nature summer camp for 6 weeks from early July into August. New themes every week and children sign up per week. Registration for camp opens in January.

York County Government - Parks and Recreation - Nixon Park Nature Center

Supports a wide variety of plant and animal life. Operates a Nature Center featuring live reptiles, a children’s touch room, bird feeder observation windows, an extensive preserved insect collection, and interactive educational displays focused on PA natural history. Offers several park amenities including hiking trails and various special events/programs throughout the year.

Monroe County Conservation District - Tannersville Bog

Offers 1,000 plus acre preserve containing a 150-acre wetland and a relict boreal bog. The Nature Conservancy manages the preserve with the volunteer assistance of a local Stewardship Committee and the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center. The North Wood Trail and the Fern ridge Trail in the upland woods are open to the public for self-guided walks. Because of its fragile nature, the bog can only be visited during regularly scheduled walks conducted by the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center. Please note that pets are not allowed on bog trails.

Lancaster County Department of Parks & Recreation - Lancaster County Environmental Center

Lancaster County Central Park is the home of the Lancaster County Environmental Center. Naturalists conduct public programs, classes for organized groups, in-service training for teachers, and environmental education workshops. Programs for groups may be scheduled for anytime. Program descriptions include: General nature hikes and explorations Wildlife (Birds, insects, mammals, food chains, plants, reptiles) Habitats and crafts Environmental issues Stream studies Maple sugaring Geology Canoe trips Compass In addition, programs can be designed to meet special needs and topics.

Friends' Central School - Tenderfoot Day Camp

Provides recreational activities for children ages 3 to 6. Focuses on social development, independence, the development of new friendships, and the strengthening of self-esteem. Children are placed in coeducational groups by age. Activities included swimming lessons, recreational swimming, music, drama, arts, crafts, nature, computers, sports, games, and themed weeks.
