08/2018: In light of recent events, the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (PDMVA) might be able to offer a onetime benefit payment (up to a max of $1,600). All honorably discharged veterans should contact their county Veterans Affairs office for qualifications and processing. --------------------- Assists veterans in navigating the system to access the following services: dependency and indemnity compensation, health care enrollment, education benefit, vocational and rehabilitation training, home loan guarantees, life insurance, burial benefits, tax exemptions, emergency assistance, blind and paralyzed pension, specialized veteran’s license plates, markers and headstones.

Advocates for veterans to secure pensions, education, hospitalization, disability compensation, medical and dental services, burial allowance benefits, loan guarantees, and public housing. Offers special financial assistance for burial benefits and allowances and for certain emergencies. Provides free notary service and information for employment assistance.

Educates veterans and their family members on the full range of federal, state, and county veteran's benefits, and assists in processing forms and supporting documentation to obtain these benefits. Coordinates with area funeral directors to ensure burial benefits. May be able to offer a one-time benefit payment (up to $1,600).

Assists veterans and their dependents when applying for federal, state, and county benefits. Offers a one-time benefit payment (up to a max of $1,600).

Assists war veterans and their families in securing their rights in matters relating to their person, property, and care of family. Offers one-time benefit payment of up to $1,600.

Provides emergency assistance up to $500 based upon funds available from the Critical Needs Emergency Fund Program. These funds can help cover items such as a major appliance repair, past due utilities, funeral expenses, and fire expenses.

Provides temporary financial assistance to Veterans and their beneficiaries who reside in Pennsylvania for the necessities of life (food, dairy, shelter, fuel, and clothing).

Provides grants for home repairs in the wake of a declared natural disaster.
