Offers homeless children and youth a free public education on an equal basis with all other children in the state.

Decontaminates individuals who have been exposed to a hazardous material before they go into the Emergency Department for treatment. In addition to decontaminating these individuals, the decontamination unit helps protect the Emergency Department, its staff and patients who are waiting for treatment for other medical conditions, from contamination. The unit consists of three chambers. In the first chamber, the individual removes contaminated clothing then steps in the middle chamber to shower. Unlike many units, the shower has both hot and cold water. In the third chamber, the individual puts on a hospital gown and goes to the adjacent Emergency Department for treatment.

Offers respite services to those caring for an adult with behavioral or mental health needs by providing temporary accommodations or in-home care for your loved one, with a qualified Access Services host family, capable of meeting all of his or her personal needs.

If you are a Medical Assistance recipient, you may be eligible to get help with transportation to and from medical appointments and care. Transportation is provided by the County of Lackawanna Transportation System (COLTS). The Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) is a transportation service available to Medical Assistance consumers in Lackawanna County. MATP is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. MATP can help you get to medical care or services from a Medical Assistance Provider by providing transportation or mileage reimbursement.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free, confidential, and secure tax return preparation for those in need of tax assistance. Offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly ,and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Seeks to mediate and resolve issues affecting older adults who are residents of nursing homes and personal care homes, or who receive long-term care services in their home or community. The program works with individuals, their families and friends, long-term care facility staff, government agencies, and community groups to provide relevant information, answer questions, investigate complaints about the quality of care or treatment from long-term care providers, and offer assistance in resolving problems.

Represents residents, business owners, and other stakeholders in the House of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Provides assistance with accessing state benefits and services, information about elections, and advocates for constituents.
