Osteoporosis is a gradual thinning and weakening of bones, which can lead to bone fractures. More than 10 million Americans, 80 percent of whom are women, have or are at risk of developing this condition. Since osteoporosis is often referred to as a "silent disease," many are less likely to find out they have it until they suffer a painful bone fracture. Two testing methods are available: 1) AccuDXA, which uses low dose X-ray to measure bone density of the middle finger of the non-dominant hand; or 2) Achilles Express, which uses ultrasound to measure bone density of the heel. Provides care and supervision in a protective setting for dependent adults living in the community during some portion of a 24-hour day. Presents an alternative to nursing home care, thus delaying placement in an institution. Aims to maintain the highest possible level of function among our members and to provide respite to their caregivers. Offers the following activities and services: Multiple Therapies to Support Socialization (Art, Music, etc), Board Games, Arts & Crafts, Bingo, Exercise, Medical services, a Nutritious hot meal, and a morning and afternoon snack.

The goal of the Family Self-Sufficiency Program is to help motivated individuals become economically self-sufficient.
