Identify homeless students within the School District of Lancaster and to ensure that identified students are enrolled in school, their educational needs are assured, and disruptions in their attendance and academic program are minimized. A Task Force, comprised of representatives of numerous social service agencies advises the project. Efforts to assist homeless students have included:

• Policy changes permitting the admission of homeless students whose immunizations have been started, but not completed, or whose school records are incomplete.
• A small fund to purchase bus passes for a temporary period to facilitate the attendance of "sheltered" students. HSP workers also use the fund to purchase school uniforms and supplies for students for whom lack of these items is a barrier to their enrollment and attendance
• Referrals to after-school tutor and mentor programs
• Ongoing inservice program for teachers and service staff to increase their awareness of homelessness issues and their k

Provides a police department to the community. Offers resources and information about code enforcement, curfews, and criminal activity.

Provides degree programs, non-credit training, workshops, certification testing, tutoring and academic advisement coordinated with other institutions.

Provides a public library with a variety of programs and resources. Offers books, virtual content, book clubs, and curbside services. Serves as a warming center during periods of extreme cold.

Provides pregnancy test with verification, ultrasound pregnancy confirmation, education about pregnancy and infant care, Lay counseling as needed with parents, boyfriend, or husband, ongoing personal support, post-abortion Lay counseling, and referrals (for medical care, social services, legal aid and adoption, housing, and foster home care). Assists with planning for the future and other assistance depending on circumstances. Offers material assistance with maternity and baby needs. Provides assistance and education for new dads.

Provides food vouchers, nutrition education, and health care referrals to pregnant people, breastfeeding and postpartum individuals, as well as to children under the age of five.

Provides art education through classes, monthly art shows, annual school students show, and demonstration days.

Offers socialization and recreation for individuals who currently or in the past received mental health services.

Provides therapeutic sessions that focus on the system of relationships and communication patterns among family members. The therapist focuses on the family as a unit rather than concentrating on one of the members who is singled out as the one in need of treatment.

Provides a range of nutrition services and education for pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children under age five in a supportive environment.

Provides a local newspaper.

Provides public health protection by permitting, licensing and inspecting eating and drinking establishments, camps and campgrounds, mobile home parks, swimming pools, on-lot sewage systems and individual wells. Operates clinics that provide immunizations, testing for childhood lead poisoning, HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and tuberculosis (TB), and treatment for STD and TB.

Accepting volunteers. Aims to provide extra supervision for students traveling to and from school. Similar to neighborhood watch programs, volunteers can opt to patrol routes around schools at the start and end of the school day or to keep watch from their homes or businesses. Volunteers often work in teams, sharing information and reporting any suspicious or unusual activities.

Provides public computers that may be used to file taxes or download and print tax documents or instructions for federal, state or local taxes.

Provides mental health evaluations for youth.

Preserves and provides information on the history of the Moravian Church and settlements in the LeHigh Valley.

Provides Veteran peer support specialists with a current or past mental illness experience who have gone through treatment are available to help other Veterans in their own recovery process. Peer Support Specialists offer a variety of groups and are also available to work with Veterans on a one-on-one basis and are able to provide limited services in the community.

Marriage preparation workshops are offered periodically (Berks and Schuylkill Counties). Fees apply.

Provides list of support groups for Kinship Caregivers hosted by agencies across Pennsylvania.

Offers an opportunity to learn leadership, citizenship and life skills. Teach about sharing, doing, and learning together in all kinds of projects, events and activities through local clubs, special interest clubs, school-based, after-school program, and individual memberships.

Provides soup, bread, fruit and dessert every Saturday.

This program provides free groceries and essential food items to eligible individuals and families in need.

Offers utility bill assistance.
