Provides recovery support services and resources and opportunities to reduce the impact of addiction and to improve related health issues for the communities of Southeast Pennsylvania (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties). Services include prevention, consultation, education, advocacy, assessment, intervention and treatment services designed to help an individual to stay in recovery.

Offers various recreational activities for individuals incarcerated in the Allegheny County Jail (ACJ) housing pods. Oversees the physical library at the ACJ and is responsible for coordinating its resources.

Offers information about state and local tax issues including the following: A) Property Tax/Rent Rebate information B) Pennsylvania state income tax forms

Offers pelvic exams and Pap tests, contraceptives, STD testing and treatment, physical exams, basic menopausal care, mammography referrals, and health information and education.

Personal Care

Provides a monthly food pantry and a weekly Fresh Express Food drive-thru aupplemental food distributions. Also distributes donated pet food and products to those Fresh Express clients who have registered their pets. Emergency food is always available.

Provides information designed to improve the quality of life for local residents in conjunction with Penn State University. Offers programs related to agriculture, gardening, child care, food and nutrition, family living, and the West Nile virus.

Offers free investment counseling through weekly virtual meetings using the Zoom web conference platform. Open to persons with all levels of understanding and experience who want to learn about investmenting.

Offers Head Start, a free federal program for preschool age children. Certified teachers assist children in developing school readiness and self-help skills needed to transition into kindergarten successfully. Multiple locations across Lawrence County.

Assists Pennsylvanians with disabilities in gaining the skills necessary to live and work independently in their communities. OVR services include: diagnostic services, vocational evaluation, vocational counseling, job training, medical services and assistive technology equipment to help clients pursue and achieve employment, and job placement assistance.

Offers inter-library loan, Internet access, and fax machine. Provides delivery services to County residents who are limited in their ability to visit the library.

Offers prescription assistance programs, PACE (Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract for the Elderly) and PACENET, for Pennsylvania residents age 65 or older with limited income. Provides information regarding the numerous plans covered by Medicare and assists with enrollment.

Complete assessments to determine what level of care (i.e. nursing home, personal care home or community services) is appropriate for individuals on Medical Assistance to pay for a nursing home stay. Long-term care assessments are also completed for those applying for a personal care home Social Security supplement, and for other DPW programs, such as Waiver Services. Facilities and individuals may also request a level of care determination. Casemanagment help older adults to assess their abilities and needs, explore options, develop plans to best utilize their abilities, and arrange for informal and formal supports (in-home services) to meet their needs. With an older adult looking for placement, they can assist older adults who need to enter a nursing home or personal care facility with determining the type of residential placement that will best meet their needs, and with securing such placement. They can also assist those in nursing facilities with returning home with supportive services.

Provides items to shoppers at bargain prices. Operates as a drop-off location for donations.

Provides supplemental and emergency groceries and toiletries to residents of Pike County. In addition to regular weekly distributions, we provide enhanced food offerings at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter that may include holiday meal staples such as turkeys, hams, and other groceries for a festive meal.

Offers a continuum of care in behavioral health (includes mental health and addictive diseases), integrating services in both community and site-based settings. Provides a wide range of recovery focused treatment, services, and supports for adults.

NetSmartz: Teaches internet safety skills through engaging multimedia activities. Healthy Habits: Emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being.

Berks Summer Band Institute is a multi-generational summer band program for Berks County band musicians. Four bands of varying levels for musicians of all ages, including a 1st year band, 2nd year band, middle school band, and high school / adult band. The program is held weekly and is FREE for participants.
