Family centers provide families with a network of services accessible through local schools. Services available include healthcare services/clinics, family literacy programs, PAT (an in-home parenting program for 0-5 years old) summer recreational and enrichment programs, information and referral to other community resources. Parent/Community members should contact their school for information. Community School provide support and resources to families and community members at Broughal Middle School, Donegan Elementary, Fountain Hill Elementary, Lincoln Elementary and William Penn Elementary.

Waymart Church - Kid's Clothing Swap

Offering a clothing swap. Fill up a bag with your outgrown clothes, old toys, small shoes and kid's books and then trade them for clothes, shoes, toys and books they can use. All kids sizes are available, from infants to adult. Also offering free maternity clothes and breastfeeding supplies. Bring some bags and fill them for free! This is a free community event that is open to everyone!

United Way of Wyoming Valley - Nurse's Pantry

Elementary students are introduced to The Nurse’s Pantry through school nurses, principals and guidance counselors. In addition to attire, The Nurse’s Pantry also provides hygiene items, appropriate footwear, outerwear, undergarments, and lice treatment kits. The United Way has created and facilitates The Nurse’s Pantry in 34 schools throughout the Wyoming Valley.

Allentown School District - Family Centers


Family Centers, located at Jefferson and Central Elementary Schools, coordinate and facilitate a variety of support services for Allentown School District families. Family Centers seek to ensure the healthy growth and development of children by coordinating a wide variety of support services for families in the communities in which they live. These services include: * Parent Support and Child Development Education * Pediatric Health Services * Healthy After-School and Summer Activities * Family Preservation Services * Education and Employment-Related Services Family Development Specialist certified in parent education home visits meet groups of parent sand provide assessments and support to parents for their children from pregnancy through kindergarten.
