Serves as the point of entry to services that protect children from abuse and neglect, preserve families whenever possible, and ensure that every child has a safe, stable, and permanent home in which to grow. Services include child protection services, foster services, and more.

Provides individual and group counseling; recreational activities; advocacy services for children living in the Emergency Shelter, Transitional Housing; liason service for children needing to enroll in or leave a school for safety purposes; referrals to other agencies and resources are also provided as needed. Provides child care during adult support group meetings, as well as for other activities such as court appearances when scheduled in advance.

Offers information and referral, investigation of abuse or neglect, advocacy, filing of court petitions, crisis counseling, and training in parenting skills.

Provides crisis services and investigates all child abuse and neglect allegations within the county. Case management services conduct home visits, assess the safety of children, and refer children/family to appropriate services. Programs include: Drug and Alcohol Prevention, Triple P, Student Assistance Program, Truancy Outreach, Foster Care, Early Intervention, and Independent Living.

Provides intake services division, family preservation services division, reunification and permanency services division, family group decision making, and other services.

Provides protective services to families in need of ongoing social services support and are unable to maintain a minimal level of medical care supervision and /or education for their child. Links families to resources such as housing, mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, parenting education, and family counseling.

Provides investigations about situations where there are concerns that children are being neglected or abused. Abuse can be physical, sexual, or emotional. Neglected children are children who are without proper parental care or control, or education as required by law.

Provides child welfare services designed to protect children from abuse, neglect, and enable children to remain safely in their homes. Provides access to community based services for parents experiencing difficulty in caring for their children, preserving and stabilizing family life, and assuring that children have a permanent home.

Conducts general protective service assessments and child protective service investigations when allegations of child abuse/neglect are reported to the agency or to ChildLine, and when the abuse is alleged to have occurred in Mercer County.

C) Community education, parent education, and other preventive services to reduce the number of families needing CYS services. D) Providing a stable permanent family through adoption or permanent legal custody, along with post-permanency support.
