Serves as the point of entry to services that protect children from abuse and neglect, preserve families whenever possible, and ensure that every child has a safe, stable, and permanent home in which to grow. Services include child protection services, foster services, and more.

Performs mandatory investigation of all reports of suspected physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and serious physical neglect.

Keeping children safe and respectfully engage families by using community-based services and support in order to assist families to successfully care for their children.

Provides child protective services to individuals at risk of harm.

Investigates and documents reports of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment; provides for the temporary placement of children who have been removed from the custody of the adults who are responsible for their care; works with families who are experiencing a problem with child abuse; and provides ongoing supportive services for children in permanent placement.

Accepts reports (calls) 24 hours a day from any person, in accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law. The DHS Office of Children Youth and Families Intake Department also takes calls about suspected abuse and neglect. You may remain anonymous. CYF call screeners do not log telephone numbers. The call screener gathers the information and consults with their supervisor about whether to investigate. A supervisor looks at any available DHS and CYF data related to the child and family, assesses risk and safety and either screens out or chooses to investigate. If the child is unsafe, a caseworker is dispatched within two hours.

Child care support services may be available to participate in other services or systems that are directly related to the abuse.

Intake for the services provided by Washington County CYS. Services include: A) Investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect. B) Providing temporary safe care and supportive services for children in need of placement outside of the home. C) Community education, parent education, and other preventive services to reduce the number of families needing CYS services. D) Providing a stable permanent family through adoption or permanent legal custody, along with post-permanency support.

Provides investigations about situations where there are concerns that children are being neglected or abused. Abuse can be physical, sexual, or emotional. Neglected children are children who are without proper parental care or control, or education as required by law.

Provides child welfare services designed to protect children from abuse, neglect, and enable children to remain safely in their homes. Provides access to community based services for parents experiencing difficulty in caring for their children, preserving and stabilizing family life, and assuring that children have a permanent home.

Provides services to families who, for many reasons, need assistance in providing a safe, nurtuing and stable setting for their children. Works with the family and connect parents with appropriate community resources for medical care, child care or supervision, substance use disorder issues, mental health needs, education, and housing.

Provides services to ensure safety, permanency and well-being of the county’s children through the engagement and empowerment of families. Children and Youth Services investigate situations where there are concerns that children are being neglected or abused.

The Monroe County Children and Youth investigates reports of child abuse, neglect or abandonment; document substantiated cases; provide for the temporary placement of children who, for their own protection, have been removed from the custody of the adults who are responsible for their care; work with families who are experiencing a problem with child abuse with the objective of facilitating continued family unification or reunification; and provide ongoing supportive services for children in permanent placement.

Investigates reports of child abuse, neglect or abandonment; document substantiated cases; provide for the temporary placement of children who, for their own protection, have been removed from the custody of the adults who are responsible for their care; work with families who are experiencing a problem with child abuse with the objective of facilitating continued family unification or reunification; and provide ongoing supportive services for children in permanent placement.

Assist parents, caretakers, and families in recognizing and remedying conditions harmful to children and in fulfilling their parental duties in a manner that does not put their children at risk; investigates non-registered reports of suspected child abuse and/or neglect; referrals to appropriate services/community resources; placement casework through court adjudication; and acceptance of cases for services, develop FSPs, and monitor cases through 6 month reviews.

Offers services including information and referral, courtesy services for other child welfare agencies, screening, mediation and brief intervention, safety and risk assessment, investigations, parent and life skills training, in-home protective services, case management and collaboration, family service planning, placement services, reunification planning, permanency planning, and adoption.

Investigates reports of neglect and abuse. Services are provided to the children and their families to improve family functioning and to assure children’s safety.

Provides intake services division, family preservation services division, reunification and permanency services division, family group decision making, and other services.

Provides child protective services, foster home placement and foster family recruitment, and adoption services. Other family support services offered include family preservation, family group decision making, parent education and training in independent living skills for youth.
