Offers an Emergency Shelter Allowance, ESA, to help a homeless or near homeless family/individual to stop eviction from your home/apartment or foreclosure of your house, find a long-term place to live and/or find a short-term place to stay.

Working Papers: Any student 14-17 years old , prior to high school graduation, must have working papers for employment. Applications are taken at school district administration offices. The student does not have to be present to obtain the papers, parents can fill out the paperwork. To obtain working papers, a copy of the student's birth certificate must be taken to the school administration office. Call local school district for information on location and office hours. Summer Enrichment (Vacation Education): Some schools in the County offer non-credit enrichment courses over the summer break. These courses are designed to broaden the students experiences, keep minds and imaginations active, and offer peer interaction. Subjects that may be offered include: computers, cartooning, music, babysitting, chess, foreign languages, photography, etc. Some schools offer school social worker services.

Provides a range of customized living arrangements and levels of care for older adults including independent living cottages and apartments, personal care suites, respite care, and non-medical stays for those who live independently.

Clinic provides Primary Health Care, Family Practitioners, Care Management, an initial behavioral health assessment, brief counseling services and referrals to outpatient providers when needed.

Distributes supplies and services to displaced individuals and families of Schuylkill County. Provided are emergency food, clothing, and hygiene supplies. Supplies are made available by donation and are limited. Street Outreach Workers reach out to the unsheltered and connects them with emergency shelters, housing or critical services. Also provides urgent, non-facility-based care to unsheltered who are unwilling or unable to access emergency shelter, housing or appropriate health facility.

Free meal provided to anyone in need.

Provides intensive approaches to mental health, addiction treatment, employment , housing and more. Staff travels to the individual who qualifies.

St. Joseph's Center has many years of experience working with families during the process of completing home studies for both domestic and international adoptions. The Center is licensed through the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.

A rehabilitation program that develops an individually tailored treatment plan that combines the resources of physical, occupational, and speech/language therapists; physiatrists (physical medicine specialists); neuropsychologists/psychiatrists; cognitive rehabilitation therapists; rehabilitation nurses; vocational counselors; social workers, and other specialists to help individuals who have been disabled by an acquired brain injury attain their maximum level of functioning and quality of life.

Offers an assortment of equipment and supplies for those in need. All equipment is provided on loan at no charge and must be returned when done. Please make arrangements in advance for pickup and drop-off. If you need assistance, please let us know.

Nurse practitioner and Community Health Nurses provide services on STD clinic day. The STD Clinic is available on Tuesdays from 9:00am to 12:30pm, and the TB Clinic operates on the 1st Thursday of every month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Immunizations are free by appointment only on Wednesdays, from 8:30am to 10:45am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm, and are available to individuals with no insurance or underinsurance. Additional services include family and professional education, general health information and referrals, case management and counseling for children with elevated blood lead levels, health promotion and teaching for groups, PKU, perinatal and hepatitis B case management, investigation of communicable diseases, and follow-up for animal bites and rabies.

Hosts a free meal for the community on a monthly basis and on special occasions.

Provides parents age-appropriate child development information, group meetings to share information, and screenings to provide early identification of developmental delays, health, vision and hearing issues as wells as provides a resource network.

Offers preschool learning, taught by a certified elementary school teacher, for 3, 4 and 5 year olds. Giant Step features basic writing, language development through story time, picture discussion and games, reading readiness development through music, weekly swimming time, weekly gym time and monthly field trips

Provides financial assistance to low income individuals and families who are facing utility terminations or who have had their utilities shut off. All grants must be applied to the utility account and reach a zero balance. If amount owed exceeds maximum grant allowed, the applicant is responsible for the balance. Families and individuals are eligible to apply for assistance every two years. PECO and the Philadelphia Water Department match each dollar provided by grant. This grant, in addition to the matching utility bill credit, and any contribution by the individual, must zero out the utility bill.

Provides vocational assessment through training bays in training skills lab area

Operates a park that was previously one of 170 iron ore mines in York County. Offers one parking area and 1.5 miles of trails for visitors to explore. Home to four species of bats that use the former iron ore mines as their habitat. Ensures their hibernation environment remains undisturbed through a protective gate installed in partnership with the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Wildlife Conservation Fund.

Provides replacement benefits for individuals and families who had food lost or destroyed in a household disaster (storm, fire, power outage, etc.).
