Working Papers: Any student 14-17 years old, prior to high school graduation, must have working papers for employment. Applications are taken at school district administration offices. The student does not have to be present to obtain the papers, parents can fill out the paperwork. To obtain working papers, a copy of the student's birth certificate must be taken to the school administration office. Call local school district for information on location and office hours. Summer Enrichment (Vacation Education): Some schools in the County offer non-credit enrichment courses over the summer break. These courses are designed to broaden the students experiences, keep minds and imaginations active, and offer peer interaction. Subjects that may be offered include: computers, cartooning, music, babysitting, chess, foreign languages, photography, etc. Some schools offer school social worker services.

Offers parenting classes that enhance the healthy development of parents, guardians, and their children focusing on child development, discipline, self-care, communication, stress, and anger-management for parents in recovery.

A licensed partial program with the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) and the Office of Medical Assistance Programs (OMAP). Treatment is delivered in our community based center. The young individual will receive several hours of treatment each day including a variety of approaches such as: Group Therapy, Individual Therapy and Therapeutic Recreation.

Provides academic and emotional support to schoolchildren with Autism Spectrum Disorder in their home school districts. Focuses on individual intensive teaching, maintenance/generalization/flexibility, expressive/receptive skill building, natural environment teaching, independent skill building, daily living skill development, play skills training, social emotion skill building, and vocational skill building. Develops and implements individual education plans. Provides transition services for students age 14+ as they approach graduation.

• Camp Schreiber - five week day camp for ages 10+
• Club 625 Camp - two week camp is perfect for teens and young adults looking to build social skills and make new friends
• Food Discovery Camp - two sessions per summer designed for the picky eater ages 5 - 8
• Music Therapy Camp - four week camp offered twice per week for younger and older audiences

Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. is a federal and state funded early childhood education program that focuses on promoting the school readiness of eligible children ages 3 to 5 through family involvement, health and nutrition, education and family social services. The Head Start program is designed to increase children’s literacy, cognitive development, and social-emotional development, as well as support children’s health and well-being. Children receive vision, hearing and lead screenings on-site and are provided with a nutritious breakfast and lunch daily.
