Section 8 Rental Assistance Program is an opportunity for families of low to moderate income to receive assistance with their current rent or move to a new rental property. Under HANCâs Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, HANC does not manage or maintain your housing unit; rather, your relationship with your landlord is no different than with a traditional rent setup. A 60 to 90 day wait to partcipate in this program is common. Wait times for services will vary.

Screens individuals and families who are experiencing literal homelessness for assistance with first month’s rent and security deposit. Refers eligible clients to funding agencies.

Assists individuals in securing financial resources, applying for pertinent documents, searching for housing and applying for housing. In some cases, financial assistance such as first month's rent, a security deposit and/or basic household needs is also available through PATH.

Provides services to veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and/or lacking the resources for housing stability. Through the development of a service plan, assistance is provided with rent, utilities, emergency support, moving expenses, education, transportation and/or child care. Also networks with Veterans Affairs, churches and community groups to provide additional supports, benefits and services for Veterans and their families.

Offers career development and training services to low-income youth to help prepare them for successful careers. Program offers distance learning as well as limited residential options, meals, health care, school supplies, and community support.

**Section 8 Housing voucher program waiting list is closed** Rental assistance in private-market apartments and houses, in which tenants pay a portion of the rent and utilities based up on their income, and subsidies are made available through the agency by use of funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development

A federally-funded rental assistance program where applicants who receive vouchers from the City Housing Authority must find a privately owned dwelling in the city whose owner is willing to participate in the program. The individual/family pays a certain percentage of their income for rent and utilities. The Authority pays the balance directly to the property owner. Units are inspected once a year. Programs within Section 8:

• Family Self-sufficiency Program provides case management that assists families in becoming self-sufficient and can aid in the transition from welfare to work. It is a voluntary program.
