Provides free repairs to correct electrical, plumbing, heating, limited structural and carpentry, and roofing emergencies in eligible owner-occupied homes in Philadelphia.

Agency can assist low income customers with home heating expenses through several programs including: emergency grants to prevent electric service termination, and/or the State WAP or UGI LIURP weatherization assistance programs that install energy savings measures for the purpose of reducing heat loss and home heating expenses.

At Central Pennsylvania Community Action, Inc., we are dedicated to helping homeowners in our communities lower their utility bills while creating safer, healthier, and more comfortable homes through the following weatherization services: PA Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP); Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program - (LIHEAP) CRISIS Program; Penelec & West Penn WARM Program; National Fuel Gas Low Income Usage Reduction Program (LIURP); National Fuel Gas Emergency Repair/Replace Program; and UGI - Central Penn Gas Low Income Usage Reduction Program (LIURP).

Offers 1% loans up to $10,000 for energy efficient home repairs for those with low and moderate incomes. The loans can pay for air sealing, insulation and ductwork, energy-efficient windows and doors, heating and cooling system repairs or replacements, roof replacements, and remediation of barriers preventing Weatherization services. Low interest loans at 1% through PA Housing Finance Agency for income eligible families.

Provides major adaptations to a house or a rental unit to help individuals with physical disabilities to live independently in their own homes and avoid institutionalization. Provides free adaptations to a house or an apartment, allowing easier access to and mobility within the home.

Helps to reduce utility costs and energy usage. An on-site energy audit is conducted to identify the most cost-effective, energy saving measures to install. Some of these services include: insulation and ventilation, heating system modification or replacement. Residents in need of emergency heating repairs may receive repair or replacement of their heating system, and loan of auxiliary heat source.

Offers referrals to help make repairs/adaptations to homes of people in need. Basic home repairs (fixing stairs, railings, holes in walls, flooring, basic plumbing and electrical). Nothing major like roofs, structural issues or additions.

Helps low-income customers to lower electric bills and keep their homes more comfortable in the winter and summer months.

Energy conservation measures are installed to homes for utility customers experiencing high kilowatt usage. Energy education services are also provided. For West Penn Power and Penelec customers only.

Provides assistance to low-income customers at or below 150% of the Federal poverty level and a demonstrated or expressed inability to pay their electric service bill.

Provides direct services to alleviate a military family's or individual's actual/complete emergency financial burden, as well as counseling and/or recovery support. Emergency financial assistance is in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage lenders, auto mechanics, contractors, hospitals, doctors, dentists and other providers. Other emergency funding assistance, which an applicant receives within 24 to 72 hours, includes the following: - Financial assistance - Emergency food - Emergency home repairs - Critical baby items: formula, food and diapers - Home and appliance repair - Furniture and household items - Local moving assistance - Community events - Wounded Warrior Transitional Family Housing .

Provides services that focus on assisting older adult homeowners to continue living safely and with dignity in their home and community. Coordinates and facilitates home modifications, ramps, stair glides, bathroom modifications, small home repairs, interior/exterior painting, porch and step repair, weatherization services, and home safety kit installation.

Area utility company which supplies natural gas to industrial commercial and residential customers. Specialized Customer Outreach Program services include: - Customer Assistance and Referral Evaluation Service (CARES) Program: Assists UGI customers who are having difficulty paying their bills. Customer representatives meet and discuss LIHEAP, budget counseling, weatherization services and community resources. - Operation SHARE: A one-time financial assistance payment of the client's active gas account providing the customer has demonstrated a history of regular payments and meets eligibility criteria. - CAP (Customer Assistance Program): Personalized monthly billing program that helps low income, payment troubled customers better afford their UGI bills.
