Adult Probation protects the citizens in the Lackawanna County community while providing supervision services for all clients on probation, intermediate punishment or parole sentences. Services of the probation office are: Presentence Investigations for the Judiciary, Pre-Trial Bail Reports, Probation/Parole Supervision, Pre-trial urine screenings, Drug Treatment and Intermediate Punishment Courts, DUI Treatment Court, ARD Probation supervision, Mental Health Treatment Court , Veterans Court, Re-Entry and Co-Occurring Courts, SCRAM (Alcohol Monitoring), House Arrest and bail monitoring , G.P.S. satellite monitoring.

Provides payment for burial and cremation services on behalf of eligible individuals.

Offers public riding lessons for from April through November. Winter lessons are held as weather permits.

Fire department

Carries out the policies set by the Board of Assessment Revision, which is made up of the Tioga County Commissioners. . Provides the valuation of real property for ad valorem (at value) tax purposes, including the management of all property characteristic and ownership records. Also, administers the Homestead and Farmstead Exclusion Program (Act 50 & Act 1) and the Clean and Green Preferential Assessment Program (Act 319, as amended).

Diagnoses and treats a wide range of podiatric conditions, including but not limited to ankle sprains, arthritic foot and ankle care, athlete’s foot, bunions, calluses and corns, diabetic foot care, ingrown toenails, heel spurs, hammertoes, wound care, foot and ankle injuries, foot and ankle surgeries, and pediatric foot and ankle conditions.

Phones are equipped with free service from SafeLink Wireless that includes: 1,000 monthly calling minutes, unlimited text messaging, 1 GB of data, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, free technical support, free calls to Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania member services, and free calls to 911.

Offers job search assistance, job readiness, one-on-one mentoring, and any other needed assistance for employment. Assistance includes resume preparation, completing job applications, and mock interviews. The EAP identifies potential employers willing to consider ex-offenders for hire.

Provides limited help with a hotel or motel stay for those facing a homeless situation.

LIURP The WARM Program can help low-income customersâ lower electric bills and keep their homes more comfortable in the winter and summer months. It is available to homeowners and renters with landlord approval. Customers participating in WARM: Receive an in-home energy evaluation, work with a trained energy educator to create an energy-savings plan, and have the opportunity to receive the following energy-saving items installed in the home: Caulking and weather-stripping, Refrigerator/freezer testing and possible replacement, Electric water heater inspection, and Energy-saving light bulbs. The specific improvements that you are eligible to receive will be determined during your home energy evaluation. No payment is required for these installations/services.

Provides a specialized form of foster family care intended for children and youth whose needs exceed the capabilities of a traditional foster home. Such children are often sent to group homes or institutions, which do not provide a family living experience. As a vital alternative, a treatment family is specially selected and trained to deal with the child's special needs and to help each child grow in a successful family atmosphere. Through family activities and community events, children participating in Family-Based Services will learn the responsibilities and behaviors that come with being part of a caring family.
