The Department of Public Welfare offers an Emergency Shelter Allowance, ESA, to help a homeless or near homeless family/individual to: stop eviction from your home/apartment or foreclosure of your house; find a long-term place to live; find a short-term place to stay.

Provides emergency aid, in the form of either a direct grant (a cash gift, not to be repaid) or an interest-free loan, and by giving college scholarships to children of soldiers.

Provides rapid monetary assistance to transgender/gender-expansive individuals or the parents of transgender youth under the age of 18 residing with the parent.
