Assist individuals with stabilizing their barriers to success and with developing skills that prepare them for employment. Program offers successful employment and personal skills development opportunities to help individuals improve their ability to "earn, keep, and grow" a steady family-supporting income. Customers are provided with case management and referred to other services such as skill and behavior assessment, support groups, life skills, GED instruction, counseling, substance abuse treatment, and others.

University of Pittsburgh - Experiential Learning for Veterans in Assistive Technology and Engineering (ELeVATE)

Provides a program designed to re-integrate veterans to college through three-phases. Phase I: Participants will complete a ten-week paid research experience, complete a team project, learn 21st century skills in workshops, and prepare to begin classes at a local college. Phase II: Participants will continue to refine their academic interests and apply for a formal program at the University of Pittsburgh or an institution of their choice. Phase III: Participants will enroll in a university and prepare to graduate from the ELeVATE program.

Offers a 14-week pre-apprenticeship program. Includes courses in work safety, electric and gas basics, technical maintenance, and other skills. Provides mentorship and opportunities to shadow and assist PECO employees on the job. Prepares participants for the construction and skilled trades exam and CDL certification. Prepares graduates for a range of careers such as aerial line mechanic, underground mechanic, distribution gas mechanic, transmission and substations testing mechanic, and others. Offers industry internships to students in participating school districts. Intership offerings include: Dental Internship: The dental internship program has been modeled after NTIEC's long-standing hospital internship program, whereas students will participate for three hours a day, once a week for approximately five-seven weeks during the fall and spring semesters. This unique opportunity will provide students with an up front and close look at the various jobs available in dentistry. While performing contract work, individuals learn task completion, safety in the workplace, problem solving, following directions, and dependability. Individuals earn a commensurate wage for their work and receive a paycheck every two weeks.
